LA BOSCOC General Meeting: April 15, 2024

Overview

The Louisiana Balance of State Continuum of Care (LA BOSCOC) will host its first full membership meeting of the year on April 15, 2024. This meeting will be held virtually to allow CoC members throughout our geography to easily attend.

At the meeting, organizations and individuals will learn about current and upcoming efforts across Louisiana to end homelessness, including opportunities for collaboration and funding.

The LA BOSCOC is Louisiana’s largest federally recognized coalition to end homelessness. It serves 22 parishes across the state, including East Baton Rouge, Calcasieu, Terrebonne, and all their surrounding parishes. Good Standing

Please note that organizations in the LA BOSCOC’s geography that may seek homeless housing and services funding from a variety of sources, including the Continuum of Care (CoC), are required to attend at least one of the LA BOSCOC’s two semiannual General Meetings in order to maintain Good Standing.

Overview

Please note that organizations in the LA BOSCOC seeking homeless housing and services funding from a variety of sources including the Continuum of Care (CoC) and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) Programs are required to attend at least one of the LA BOSCOC’s two semiannual General Meetings.

This is the only General Meeting that will be held in person. The next General Meeting (est. October 2020) will be held via webinar.

Point in Time (PIT) Count Training: Houma

Overview

The LA BOSCOC is hosting a free training for Point in Time (PIT) Count volunteers. The training will cover safety, best practices, and using the Counting Us app.

All PIT Count volunteers are strongly encouraged to attend.

You do not need to register to attend this training.

What should I bring?

Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week Dinner - November 28

Overview

Baton Rouge is recognizing Hunger and Homelessness Awareness week with a FREE Thanksgiving dinner for anyone experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.

This event is sponsored by the Louisiana Housing Corporation, the Particular Council of St. Vincent de Paul of Baton Rouge, Raising Cane’s River Center, Holiday Helpers, and the Office of the Mayor-President of Baton Rouge.

About Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week

Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week (HHAW) is an annual program where people come together across the country to draw attention to the problems of hunger and homelessness. Participating groups spend the week holding a series of educational, service, fundraising, and advocacy events. HHAW was first held at Villanova University in 1975. The LA BOSCOC began holding HHAW events in 2018.
